It is amazing to me how fast time has gone, I only have about one month left before we become a family of five, yet it is also amazing how freakishly long this last month is going to be. So to contradict myself entirely, I feel like I have 36 days to get a million things done and I'm too tired to even get started on my to-do list. Those of you who have been pregnant hopefully understand my contradiction.
One thing we got off our list was registering. I know, I know...it's our third child blah blah blah. But we've had a few people ask us if we planned on registering so we went ahead and registered at Babies R Us. I forgot how fun registering is! Although I made a terrible mistake in letting Jeremiah hold the little scanning gun, he would scan something and then ask me if I wanted to put it on our registry. Seriously, what was I thinking? He was trigger happy! So I went online when we got home and did some clean-up, but it was still fun.
I had my 35 week appointment today. Everything looks great. I don't even know how much weight I've gained because I refused to look at the scale (like I need another thing to freak out about!). My midwife is sending me to an ultrasound in a few weeks because I am measuring three or four weeks smaller than I should be, and I'm not too concerned about that - I've been measuring small my entire pregnancy, but I'm totally for finding out for sure whether I'm having a girl or not. There's just that tiny part of my mind that is saying wouldn't it suck that I've taken all the tags of the clothes I've bought and probably have none of the receipts if I have a boy? Not that we wouldn't love a boy as much as a girl, but he certainly wouldn't look that great in any of the clothes we've purchased/borrowed/been given up to this point.
My cravings still bounce around me every once in a while, although they aren't so crazy that I have to indulge in them all the time. I could eat Cocoa Pebbles with a tall glass of milk all day, although I crave ice cold water too which is a lot healthier than my earlier cravings for diet soda. I have not had a desire to begin my "nesting" period that was so prevalent in my pregnancy with Roman. I am really good at surface cleaning - dishes, laundry, vacuuming...but beyond that I'm just too exhausted. It's exhausting just thinking about doing more cleaning. However, Hayden must somehow realize that I am not nesting like I should, and has sort of stepped up to the plate. This started last week, while I was showering he came in and said he cleaned his whole room and made his bed - like blanket all perfect and straight and all the toys in their proper place, shoes lined up against the wall and clothes in the dresser - and he wanted to let me know that he was now going to make my bed. I don't even make my bed, why is my 4-year-old doing this?! He now cleans his room and the family room at least twice daily. Poor Roman, Hayden will take his toys that he is playing with because Hayden wants to clean, and Roman is all confused and gets upset because he now has no toys. I'm trying to teach Hayden that cleaning is great but he still needs to let Roman play with whatever toys he currently has. It's kind of strange, Jeremiah keeps asking if this is normal behavior but hey, I'm not complaining. I'm just wondering if he's too young to move on to washing dishes?
I am really anxious for this baby to arrive. My midwife is starting to flirt with the idea of inducing me on my due date if I have started dialating, but that's still up in the air. I've been researching ways to start labor, which really turned into a big waste of time because any legitimate website will tell you that there really isn't a way to start labor on your own, this baby is going to come on her own time. But for fun, here are a few of my favorites:
- A lady in my ward said to try red raspberry tea. She was so certain that this would work that she cautioned me not to drink it before 37 weeks. I went home and thought, "Is it the raspberries? The tea? What would cause labor?" I did some research and found that raspberry leaf tea has a reputation for inducing labor, but really it strengthens the uterus so that you have more effective contractions when in labor. It's also supposed to make your labor less painful, as well as pains after labor. So it can't be all that bad right?
- Driving down a bumpy road. Seriously? This is supposed to work? Can't I just do some jumping jacks or something?
- Eggplant parmigiana. Celeste told me to try this, but only from Olive Garden. I read it online too, that this particular dish is supposed to induce labor. I'm a little skeptical, but maybe that's because I hate eggplant.
- Lots of sex. Dr. Holmes (my most favorite doctor ever, he delivered Hayden and Roman and *SOB* I miss him!) laughed when I asked about this, he said there is no study that shows this works, but he likes to tell his patients to go ahead and have fun trying. Hahaha.
P.S. Jeremiah's contribution was the title of this blog. Pretty cute huh?

Yeah I have that thing in the back of my mind wanting another ultrasound "just in case". Oh, and if you need bumpy roads, Cleveland is FULL of them. And the whole sex thing has something to do with... well, just call me. I'm sure others don't want to hear the details on why some think this works (like Rachel on Friends!). Let me know how your ultrasound goes. If you call me crying, I'll know it's a boy (not because you're sad, but because you have all those cute girl clothes!)
I was a little disappointed in your post because I thought (by the title) that you would post a picture of your cute bump!! If I remember correctly, you were a very cute pregnant person. Well, good luck with everything!!!
I'm so excited for you that the end is in sight! And, I don't blame you for not nesting. Maybe you'll still get into that? I'm not sure I ever did besides surface cleaning with the last one. And, good luck with trying to get your labor started. I'm sure Jage is very willing to help. And, I've heard caster oil will get you going--but I guess it's NASTY stuff.
Eggplant Parmigiana from Olive Garden is good! I dont' really like eggplant either but this one is good. And I love how Hayden is cleaning for you! That is so nice! And I think you can totally teach him to do dishes and maybe fold laundry?? Change diapers?? Give baths?? The list can go on and on.
Oh you are getting so close. I am so excited for you guys. It will be so great to add a little girl to the mix. Her big brothers will take good care of her.
I am so impressed by the work that Hayden is doing for you. What a sweetheart. Your future daughter in law will love you one day. You must be doing something right.
Hang in there. That last month is certainly a rough one. She will be oh so worth it though. I am glad to hear that you guys registered. I'm wondering if you even need any clothes for her. I remember a previous post where you had already done quite a bit of shopping. Too cute!
Interesting theories on hwo to start labor. I thought you were going to say that the Dr's suggestion was Jeremiah's contribution to the blog, but the title is very cute. Doug likes that part. Is that the same Dr. Holmes in the Cottontree Family Practice?
