I've had mixed responses to Hayden's hair. Some think it's too crazy (aka Mom) but the majority of people love his curls. In fact, a good amount of strangers comment on his beautiful hair while I'm out shopping. I don't know if "beautiful" is a term I want describing my son's hair, but we love it all the same. Anyway, his hair was getting so long it was starting to lose it's curl!!! I know, pick yourself up off the floor, it was tragic! So, we decided to have Destiny cut his hair. She must have taken over an inch off, and Hayden
was surprisingly well-mannered during the whole ordeal. Usually he has to sit on my lap while I hold him down, but this time he sat all by himself and did what he was told during the cut. He did, however, have a look of concern..or fear..or something on his face the whole time (see picture to the right). At one point, he looked down at Roman, who was sitting in his carseat, and said, "Roman, help me!" In the end, everything worked out. He looks great doesn't he? And best news of all (for all of you still getting over your shock)...he has his curls back.
*By the way, the top picture is the "before", and the bottom picture is the "after"...what do you think?!

I'm getting old...
Happy Birthday to me (and to Carissa and Celeste). We celebrated our birthday yesterday, and it was a great day for me, although just like I told my mom, it's sad that as you get older, your birthdays mean less and less. Jeremiah took a shower in Hayden's bathroom so he wouldn't wake me up while he got ready for work. So, I woke up at 8:45 when Roman started crying. Christina bought me Cafe Rio and we ate it at my house while the kids watched a movie. Jeremiah got home at 6:30 with a strawberry cheesecake and Martinelli's. My mom sent me money and Jeremiah got me the latest Harry Potter game for Gamecube. For those who know me well, it won't surprise you that I went to Bed, Bath, and Beyond to spend my money. But, the most unexpected gift was a phone call I got at 9pm from a lady in Kentucky, calling on behalf of Kory, to wish me happy birthday. I was outside in the snow walking to our apartment and I just started crying because I was so surprised and it was so thoughtful. Isn't my brother the best?! Oh, and Hayden insisted on singing the happy birthday song several times to me, most of the time he had cheesecake in his mouth but it was cute all the same.

My family, especially my boys
So it's obvious that I'm the only girl in the house, and I feel like I need to counter all the testosterone floating around. In doing so, I've developed my talents in cooking, scrapbooking, and needlework. The TV is usually set to Food Network, Dr. Phil, or Oprah, and I blast Carrie Underwood while cleaning. But there is no denying I live in a house full of boys. No matter how detailed my cleaning is, I will always find a Matchbox car in an odd place, someone will always be wrestling with someone else, and there will be more dirty laundry than my washer can keep up with.
Hayden is my oldest son. He is two and a half going on twenty. He is a smart little boy, learning new words every day (his latest is "I don't want to"...thanks Rix). He is an avid movie watcher, just like his parents, and it took quite a bit of tears to break him down to two movies a day. We converted one of our bedrooms into a playroom, and he loves playing with his train set and cars, although I often find him in there reading a book to himself. He's a very active boy and loves to run, jump, wrestling, and dance. He's not yet potty trained, and I'll keep you updated on that since it will be a big day for me when I no longer have to change his diapers! He loves playing with his little friends and cousins. He is still asking to see Olivia and Rix. Although Hayden is very curious and a bit wild, he is also the sweetest little boy. He tells me several times a day that he loves me, and whenever he does something wrong, he's quick to say sorry. Christmas was a lot of fun this year. He finally kind of understands Santa and presents, although he was upset when there were no more to open. He insisted on talking to Santa on my cell phone, so we finally called my dad and asked him to play Santa for Hayden. We also told him that this was Jesus's birthday, but that's about all he could understand of the Nativity.
Roman is our newest addition, and is almost seven months old. He really is such an easy baby, always eager to smile at people with his "cheerleader" smile. He eats his baby food with the speed of a Nascar driver, he can't get enough of the stuff! He loves his big brother and is always laughing at the things Hayden says or does. Even when Roman is fussy it's usually Hayden who cheers him up. Roman is almost crawling! We've found him rocking on his hands and knees several times...I'm not sure if this is good news for me though. I sort of enjoy putting Roman somewhere and knowing he'll be in that general spot when I come back. He weighs a hefty 16 lbs 10 oz, he's in the 75th percentile for height and weight, where Hayden was always in the 25th percentile. He also shows his love for his parents by sleeping soundly through the night (usually), waking up around 8:30am.
Jeremiah is my husband. We've been married for a little over four years. He's the only guy I know who loves me for all of my defects and was willing to fight for me when I was being too stubborn to move our relationship forward. He saved me from a time in my life when everything was bitter and I did not have a lot of hope for a decent future. Now he is the love of my life and I'm luck that he still puts up with my sarcarm and stubbornness. Jeremiah works for Doba.com as the supervisor over the sales department. I'm not sure exactly what he does, but as long as he brings home paychecks I'm happy. Jeremiah also took the LSAT in December so now we're in the applications process for law school. We should know by May where we are going. I'll keep you updated. In his spare time, Jeremiah loves his XBox 360, reading books, and spending time with the family. He spent a lot of his childhood overseas in Europe, and longs to go back there. I told him when he's a fancy-pants lawyer maybe we can afford it.

First Posting
So, I've never "blogged" before, but it seems to be the craze right now (and by craze, I mean I know two people who have created their own). It's the start of a new year and I thought this would be a great way to keep others updated without overwhelming them with several dozen pictures in one email (ahm, Carissa?). Of course, I will do the blogging because Jeremiah would just give me a strange look if I asked him to help. I'm really excited about this, hope you all enjoy!
