So Saturday night Jeremiah took time off of studying to run some errands with us. We finally got our federal tax return and decided to get an elliptical, but after looking at a few we decided that we don't know a whole lot of anything about ellipticals and figured we ought to do some homework about them first. We took Hayden to the Disney store and Jeremiah did some shopping for some church shoes. While Jeremiah was in Macy's, I took the kids to see the Easter Bunny. It was actually kind of a sad thing, because they both waved with super excitement at the bunny in costume, but it cost $16 to visit the bunny and get a picture, and I just couldn't swallow the idea of paying that amount. Hayden, however, with no concept of money, was really confused as to why he could not sit on the Easter Bunny's lap like the other kids. I understand he won't remember the next day (well, he might, he sort of remembers all sorts of things I wish he wouldn't) but I was still a bit teary-eyed when Roman was waving like a prom queen and yelling "HI!" and Hayden was begging to sit on his lap. Maybe next year right?
Well Saturday was in the 30s *surprise, surprise, right?* and you could still see snow on the ground (*sniff*) but we promised the kids ice cream if they were good at the mall, so we drove to Netty's, a local ice cream shop that is actually quite good. They each got a kiddie cone, Jeremiah got a lime freeze, and I got a chocolate malt shake, but a small one so as to not have too much sugar. It was a blast watching the kids eat ice cream cones, especially Roman, who'd never had one and made a huge mess but loved it all the same. Except that it took him half hour to eat his cone and they went to bed a bit later than normal, it was quite nice to get out of the house as a family and just hang out. I felt more like myself than I have in awhile!
On a bright note, some of you know that I failed my glucose tolerance test on Tuesday, and I was scheduled for a 3-hour test on Thursday. My doctor's office isn't open on Fridays, so I didn't find out until today whether I passed that test. I was quite worried I wouldn't, and I was sad that I would have to watch a strict diet with this pregnancy. Well, party on, I passed the test! All of my numbers were quite short of the cut-off line for gestational diabetes, and I was relieved. Since I was pre-diabetic with Roman, Jeremiah and I both agreed that I should still watch my sugar intake, which means probably no blueberry doughnuts from Giant Eagle, which is a huge sacrifice, but at least I can be a little bit more relaxed about my diet.
This was actually taken Friday, but I have to say Roman loves to wear Jeremiah's "ats". So much that no matter where Jeremiah puts them so he can find them later, Roman always finds them and puts them somewhere else. Roman would also be the happiest baby on the block if he had a sucker in his mouth and Playhouse Disney on TV.

So, here in Utah--you can see the Easter Bunny or Santa for free. But, you are limited to how many pictures you take and if they take a picture--then you pay tons of money.
And, what a fun night out with the family! I love the ice cream cone pictures. Looks like heaven for the boys.
And, also--I've heard Sears is a good place to buy exercise equipment. Especially if you get their extended warranty that includes a yearly maintenance call at your house.
I love to pretend that it's summer! Especially with ice cream beards.
Sorry about the Easter Bunny. I think we're going to try and see him tomorrow afternoon, but only if it's free. And yeah for no gestational diabetes, although you can still eat well to make sure it stays that way.
Congrats for passing your test! I know that's a huge relief.
Sorry about the Easter Bunny but that is a lot of $. Here you can sit for free and they give you a free 5x7 but they run your license to make sure you don't keep going back.
Glad Jeremiah good take a time out for the family and get ice cream since him and Joe both take numerous time outs from studying to play xbox!
I love the kids pictures. Those boys are so cute! (sorry this is such a long comment!)
I'm not taking my kids to see the Easter Bunny because a) the line is always super long and b) there are way more things I can think of that $16 would buy than a stupid picture with the Easter Bunny. I guarantee your kids don't care and wouldn't appreciate the cost of the picture. Anyway, I love the pictures! I laughed when Hayden wouldn't eat the "bowl". Don't kids think the weirdest things??? And blueberry donuts? I'll have to try them when I come visit!
Well, I must be totally out of it because I have never even heard of sitting on the Easter bunny's lap! And for $16?! Go buy Jeremiah and bunny suit and make some money! :) I love your pictures of the kids - ice cream is the best! And congrats on your glucose test - that is very good news! Maybe I can take some pictures of the Easter egg hunts this weekend so I'll finally have something to report on my blog. Have a great day! :)
Roman and Hayden are both so adorable and new baby LaFranca will be equally as adorable!! Glad to hear you passed your glucose test. I like the doc updates...I am finding I am a lot more interested in them since I have something to relate to!
