Getting through January

With the weather being everything we hoped it would never be (does that make sense?), we are literally trying to just get through January. I have never been so cold! Thursday night our hot water pipes froze, leaving us with no hot water in our bathroom but oddly there was hot water in our kitchen. Jeremiah braved a cold shower, but I decided to put in a small workout at the YMCA and take full advantage of their hot showers afterwards. Saturday morning we woke up and the thermostat said 59 degrees because not only do we not need hot water, but apparently we don't need a working heater either! We waited until early afternoon before our landlord was able to come fix it. We're hoping for no more setbacks in keeping our house warm.

Most of the stores around here are having huge clearance sales, which I'm a total sucker for. At Target I bought Aubrey several pairs of the cutest little shoes for $2.50 a pair, including Converse black glitter shoes. Roman got some Spiderman shoes for the same price, and I stocked up on some clothes for the kids for next winter. I bought myself a cream skirt for $5. We also found nice flannel sheets on clearance for $13, and they are the best purchase we've made this winter. I can't wait to sleep in them! Old Navy also had a big sale, and we bought Aubrey some sweaters that I'm totally excited for her to wear. I don't remember feeling this way with the boys, but I seriously can't wait for Aubrey to grow up just so I can see her in all the cute clothes I've found for her. Another great purchase was a Fisher Price Rainforest Jumperoo on clearance. I've been looking for a nice exersaucer for Aubrey, but I didn't want to pay full price. Like I said, I'm a sucker for clearance.

Celeste and Bryan got the kids a train set from IKEA for Christmas. They LOVE it. I've already wondered several times why we bothered buying them anything for Christmas since all they do is play with the train set. They even take the little cars with them to bed. Roman's learned to put the train tracks together, although they don't ever connect and sometimes they're upside down. The best part about the train is how easy I can bribe them to do just about anything by promising them more playtime with the train.

I've really been slacking on taking pictures of Aubrey. Maybe it's the craziness of three kids, but taking out the camera isn't usually on my list of things to do. We've been working on giving her tummy time, and here is she watching Roman play with the train. She later drooled on the tracks and Roman freaked out. She has no consideration for other's things huh?

Aubrey is doing really good. She sometimes sleeps from 9pm-6am, but other nights she is up at 2am and 6am. It wouldn't bother me so much if she was just consistent, I never know what my night is going to be like. Luckily she eats fast and is back to sleep within 15 minutes. She is talking a lot lately, she even talks herself to sleep which is really cute. Last night I got her to laugh before she went into the bathtub. It sounded like she was trying to clear her throat, but it was definately a laugh. I'll work with her on making it sound more laugh-like.

I found Hayden reading to Aubrey. Not a picture book of course, but one of Jeremiah's law school books. I'm surprised they're not both asleep by now, those books are boring! It probably doesn't help that Hayden is just making up a story that has nothing to do with law. I asked him the other day if he'd like to learn to read and he said, "Mom, I already know how to read!" and then proceeded to grab a book and tell me a wild story based on the pictures, loosely based on the story that he'd heard me read before.

Kaiden has a similar train and LOVES it! Little Aubrey is so cute. I know how you feel about the little girl clothes and I still get excited/anxious about buying clothes for next seaon and wanting Kalli to hurry and wear them! I only wish we had some good deals like you've been finding. We went to Target on Sat and only a few shirts on sale for Kalli and nothing I was totally in love it. Best of luck with keeping your house nice and cozy!

I totally want that train for Jack! I feel an IKEA trip coming on! I can't believe you got shoes on clearance. I never find good deals on shoes here. Now all you need to do is get through the rest of winter, which can last until April... or May!

I love that Hayden reads to her - how cute! Isn't it crazy how sweet these crazy boys can be? And that Roman freaked out about drool - of course he did! Drool is uncool. :) And BTW, are Roman's shoes by chance black with the black spiderman??

I can't believe how big Aubrey's getting. She is so cute and I love her cheeks. I'm still laughing about her cheeks keeping her afloat. :) We have the train set from Ikea too. Love it!
