Three Years Later

Three years ago yesterday, Dr. Holmes (my delivery god!) noticed my amniotic fluid was low, and prepared me to be induced the next day - June 10, 2004. After Pitocin at 7am, water breakage at 9am, and hours and hours later, Hayden was finally born at 11:43pm. I was so exhausted from lack of food and lack of sleep, that when they finally let me see him, I cried because I was too tired to even hold him! He was an adorable baby, and Jeremiah and I immediately fell in love with our little baby. Life was so peaceful, so calm...

Three years later...!

Our life is full of sword fights, matchbox car races, and other signs of an active toddler. Hayden is such a big boy, and we love every day with him. He is almost fully potty trained, has his own wild opinions, and is highly independent. He loves Buzz Lightyear, Spiderman, cars, trucks, and his little brother. He is quick to say thank you, although we are still working on saying please. He is a ball of energy, and is always running around playing. It's no wonder that he's barely gained any weight this later year, I'm pretty sure he works off more calories then he can eat! I still feel pretty young at heart, so it's strange to think that my little baby is 3 years old.

Today we took Hayden to the park for a little bit after church so he could play. Then we went to Uncle Steve and Aunt Melanie's house. Steve and Hayden share a birthday, and Steve has graciously had Hawaiian- and Elmo-themed birthday parties, so this was his year to have an adult party...that and he turned 40 today (although he acts like a teenager most of the time!) and it was Grandma Josette's birthday soon too. We had a nice big bbq and Roman made a nice mess eating watermelon and pasta salad. Taylor gave Hayden a Spiderman costume, and even in the 80 degree heat, Hayden insisted on wearing it. After cake and ice cream (and a second helping for me since the dog ate my first bowl), Steve and Josette opened presents and Hayden opened a few, including an animated fireman, a plush Spiderman, and some mini Transformers. His actual party will be on Saturday with Roman, so look for more pictures then!!!

Jeremiah and Hayden singing Happy Birthday to everyone. If you notice, Hayden is wearing that great little Spiderman costume that he loves so much.

Happy Birthday Josette and Steve. We know Steve is 40 (congrats)! Anyone want to wager how old Josette is? She isn't telling us!

Roman and I after our ice cream, thus the smiley face on Roman. See my four-eyes? This isn't the best picture of me, but I like the glasses a lot.

Hey I like your glasses too! I can't wait to finally get a pair that aren't from my high school years! Anyway, the party looked like a lot of fun. Post more pictures after you have their big party this weekend.

I think it's a great picture of you! And cute glasses! I need a new pair too. We should've shopped together! You helped me pick my pair I bought from Sam's in college. Remember that?

What a great blog. You forgot to mention how we purposely made him cry because it was so cute! Anyway, Happy Birthday Hayden! And I also love your glasses! Does Roman pull them off?
